Clint Johnson discussed his roots in design in his latest interview, along with the attributes that make Newberry Architecture a top luxury firm in Texas.
From the Interview
Architecture and design run in the family for Newberry Architecture Principal Clint Johnson. His father was a contractor and his mother an interior designer, so it’s no surprise that he went on to earn a degree in interior design from the University of Houston and eventually joined Newberry Architecture in 2003.
“Growing up, I was able to see my parents’ experience of coming out to a property, clearing the trees, creating the foundation, the framing,” said Clint. “Ultimately, you’re handing over the keys to a family and it’s their dream home.”
That’s what empowered him and drove him to work in the field of architecture and design. Today, that same passion drives him as a leader in the firm and guides him in finding inspiration.
“Inspiration for projects comes from everything,” said Clint. “It comes from the client’s program, from being out there on the job site, finding out where there may be views for the project. How will you approach the project? How will a guest first experience that project?”
Since becoming a principal of Newberry Architecture, Clint has helped propel the firm’s growth through his client-centric focus.
“At Newberry Architecture, we work with the consultants, we work with the clients, we work with the suppliers, and we find out what is the best way to achieve what the aesthetic is and to make that something that’s buildable and cost effective,” said Clint.
